Very often following a motorcycle crash, the driver of the car or truck will report that they simply did not see the motorcycle.  This can result in serious accidents and often death for the rider.  When a driver fails to notice the motorcycle, it can result in a car turning across the path of the motorcyclist, which accounts for some of the most serious motorcycle accidents. In order to remain visible to other motorists, it is important to ensure that motorcycle headlamps are fully operational and illuminated at all times. Motorcycle riders should also wear high-visibility clothing, such as yellow, orange or bright red jackets.  Motorcycle fairings and windshields are also thought to help make motorcycles more noticeable to other drivers.   There is debate on the subject of loud pipes and the impact they have on making other drivers aware of the presence of a motorcycle.  In my humble opinion, loud pipes do make a difference, and I would not feel safe riding a quiet motorcycle.  

Stay Up to Date with your Rider Training:  Motorcycle rider training is associated with fewer accidents and less severe injuries in the motorcycle accidents that do occur.  If you have not ridden your motorcycle in a while, take a refresher course.  It is a good idea to take some rider training before the commencement of each riding season.  Motorcycle training will go a long way in helping you to ride defensively and avoid serious crashes.  

Use Proper Helmets and Safety Gear: Safety gear may not prevent motorcycle accidents, but the right equipment can prevent serious injuries in the event that of a motorcycle accident.  It goes without saying that a good helmet is probably the most important piece of safety equipment for a motorcycle rider. Invest in a good helmet, and take good care of it.  It is also a good idea to wear heavy boots, jackets, and gloves while riding a motorcycle.  

Finally, I would also suggest that motorcycle riders only operate their motorcycles when mental and physical faculties are sharp.  Riding a motorcycle safely requires complete focus and concentration, as you need to be aware of surroundings at all times and prepared to make quick decisions in the event of an emergency.  If you are overly tired, or mentally pre-occupied by stress or worries, it is a good idea to leave the motorcycle at home.

There are reports that a motorcyclist was seriously injured on the evening of June 29, 2013 following a motorcycle accident involving a taxi cab.  This motorcycle accident occurred on Lakeshore Boulevard, near Ontario Place, in Toronto.  The motorcycle rider was taken to hospital in serious condition.

First and foremost, we sincerely hope that the person injured in this Toronto motorcycle accident makes a complete and speedy recovery.  Get well soon rider.

There are reports that a young man from Innisfil was killed in a motorcycle crash involving another vehicle on early hours of Saturday May 4, 2013.  

This fatal motorcycle accident occurred on County Road 56 in Essa Township, near 10th Sideroad.  The other vehicle involved was reportedly a Mazda, that was driven by a Barrie resident.
